@thomas55 Did you check with your internet provider?

My problem is there is no way to connect to the router. I need to determine how the diredtly connect the device to my computer. Not a problem solved by a ijternet provider. Thank you for your input.

If you could post this question in the correct subforum (My Cloud instead of MC Home which is a completely different cloud storage), then you would have no problem getting the right answers. The problem is that any answers you get here is not going to apply to your situation because of different hardware and OS and not that anyone is trying to vex you. Go to the link and it will take you to the OS5 My Cloud subforum.

Cheers.

Do you mean there no open ports on the back of your router? If so, easiest way is to buy a network switch. This works like a power strip that plugs into one outlet and then gives you more outlets. You can get fairly inexpensive ones on Amazon.

So the switch connects to the router with the ethernet cable, then you connect other network devices to the switch. You will need, at least, one more ethernet cable. The switch will need power. You can put the switch just about anywhere.

If this is not the issue, please post exactly what MyCloud device you have and the router brand/model.

Plug Ethernet cable from my cloud into computer/ Mac it show up on networks. Pc ask Bennor. Speed wise hardwired it be 1 gig for 1.min 30 seconds. Over wi fi 20 seconds.

To connect a cloud storage device directly to a computer via an Ethernet cable, here are the steps :
1 Check the ports: Make sure that the device and the computer have an Ethernet port.
2 Using an Ethernet Cable: Connect an Ethernet cable between the two devices.
3 Assign static IP addresses :

On the computer, go to the network settings and configure a manual IP address (for example, 192.168.1.1).
On the cloud device, do the same with a nearby address (for example, 192.168.1.2).
4 Access to the cloud: After configuring the IP addresses, you can access the device via a browser or a dedicated application.

  1. This is the My Cloud Home subforum
  2. There is no assignment for static address for the My Cloud Home. Firmware does not allow it.
  3. Connection between the My Cloud Home network and computer will FAIL as is.

As previously stated above:
