Honestly, It is not worth updating Firmware release 2.07.17

I have been a WD TV HUB user since its launch (My postings here on this community will prove it) and I have gone thru’ quite a few Firmware iterations since its release original release 2.02.16, I have been patiently waiting for newer firmware release and given my honest feedback to this wonderful community forum.

IMHO, initially WD did listen to the community and fix some bugs and I really appreciate that, but somewhere down the line when they released firmware 2.05.08 the bugs got nastier when they attempted to add more features but completely started to ignore the feedback given by this community.

Having said, I would concur with most of the members here on this community that the only firmware which works fine with least amount of bugs is firmware release 2.04.13, it may not have fancy stuff that most people hate anyways, but firmware release 2.04.13 is as stable it can get.

My honest feedback to the community is do not bother testing the latest firmware 2.07.17 it is not worth even attempting to load the latest firmware 2.07.17

As far as I am concerned, I am not going to upgrade – End of Story.

I don’t want the fancy stuff either, so I should just stick with 2.04.13 - but I keep upgrading to see if the latest F/W fixes the old bugs. So far it hasn’t. Maybe I should call it quits and give up on updates but I probably won’t.

I think the last two or three updates didn’t add anything I was interested in or fix any bugs that affected me. But I had to try.

Don’t bother, I just upgraded to 2.07.17 and now Network Discovery doesn’t work, the network drive setting doesn’t detect, I can access the box directly and I can’t move files from my computer in the network to the box. The folder setup is all gone, the files are all there which I had thought were erased during the upgrade. This is my 2nd day with finding a way to access and move files to the BLACK box. Really frustrated with this product.

Hey man,

do you have link for downloading FW 2.04.13

and by any chance is it possible to downgrade FW

like on the old WD TV Media Players?

Rolling back firmware is a pretty simple process, which I did after upgrading to the latest firmware which is absolutely rotten with bugs. Here is the link with instructions  http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5860/~/how-to-roll-back-the-firmware-on-a-wd-tv-live-hub-media-center
