Hi my brand new my passport ultra stopped working. I plug it in to every device i have and here’s what happens. It goes in works for 1 second then there is a approximately 3-5 second low beep then 0.5-1 second higher beep. The thing is not the data (if you’re wondering what is on it it is just Xbox games) but I can’t afford to get an other one. It was a Christmas gift please help
It did not work. But my cable worked with his drive. When I went home I plugged it in, heard the beeps but it appeared. At this point I was amazed that it recognized it and the beeps only happened twice. Then I plugged it in to the Xbox I formatted it on the beeps were happening again but it was spinning ( now I have a slim bit of hope that I can recover it ) and it doesn’t show up.there is no “clicking of death”. When I put it In to my computer again it beeps then 2 mins later it stops but there is still spinning then I realized the spinning was coming from my desk and vent . I go in to disk management and it shows up as " Disk 1 " and the icon is a drive with a arrow pointing down and it says not initialized. I right click and press initialize disk. I select disk 1 and Mbr. A error pops up that reads " The request failed due to a fatal device hard ware error " with the red x I press ok. I do it again but with gpt but the drive is " too small " no drive letter no nothing jus me, disk management and devices and printers menu please help me get the drive working. From ipodcake
Your drive is definitely toast. If a drive beeps it is usually because it can’t spin up. Other tests you did confirm this. Hopefully, if it just passed out of warranty, you can get help from WD Support. Wait to hear from the WD moderator again.
BTW, your data on the disk is un-accessible, so hope you have a back up.
