Hi, I have a WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra installed for a week now, but it keeps shutting down every day. Almost like after 24 hours it goes to sleep. But I already disabled the energy saving, and it even shuts down then I’m working on it.
First I thought it went to sleep when inactive for a while, so I went looking for a way to wake it up on LAN, but it appears to lack that option, eventough it is listed as a feature at some places. No way I can get the NAS to wake up when trying to connect to it, via SMB, AFP or web. It just says it is offline.
But now, just now, I was copying loads of data to it from my Mac, folder for folder, GB’s at a time, and it just disconnects again! Went to look at the NAS and all leds were off, just like before… So it has nothing to do with inactivity or energy saving.
Is my NAS faulty? Strange then how it can work perfectly for a day and then just shut off… No error messages like temperature or network status, just dead. Remove and reconnect the power cable and all is fine again… for a day!
Please can somebody tell me if this is fixable or if it needs to go back for warranty. I need a replacement drive because all my data is on there, and it is my backup as well…
PS: where can I find the log files that might tell me more about why it shuts down by itself?
