I am not sure how to proceed now… Both HDD’s are brand new (WD/8TB/5,400rpm - WD80EFZX), I re-seated them three times, what else I can do? Do I have to format the drives separately before inserting them in my EX2? I assumed this will be done by the EX2…
This happened to me when initially setting up my MyCloudEX2 Ultra. Simply put, I ignored the red lights and logged onto the dashboard and let the NAS format the drives. I think I changed the RAID status (selected RAID 1 for my particular needs, but YMMV) and it went thru the format process by itself. I would only suggest doing this with drives that do not contain any info you need to keep.
The WD unit formats new HDD’s. Until a HDD has been formatted with your choice of partition (RAID\JOBD|Spanning etc…) the disk lights will always be red.
