G-Tech G-DRIVE USB-C /USB 3.1 charge laptops

In the “tech specs”, they indicate that the G-Tech G-DRIVE USB-C /USB 3.1 HDD 4TB can “charge compatible laptops”. Specifically, how many watts of charge does the drive supply the usb-c laptop?? It seems shady that everything else is specified in the tech specs and this is not. When searching the forums, the responses have said it does charge but still do not say how much of a charge is delivered.

It is a 19v 3.42A power supply. It is built to charge only the newest MacBook Pro from late 2016 and newer.

That sounds like the specs on the brick power adapter that plugs into the G-drive. I am curious how much power the Macbook receives.

Plug in the drive to your MacBook. On the Macbook, click on the black apple > About this Mac > System Report. Scroll down to Power and in that window at the bottom is AC Charger information. What does that report for the Wattage (W)??

Up to 45 Watts in order to charge up the MBP.
