Format of Hard Drives in EX2 Ultra - is NTFS compatible?

Hi, I have just purchased a My Cloud EX2 Ultra. I was hoping to use two existing backup drives in it which I currently have in desk top PCs as back up drives. They are each NTFS formatted. When I tried to set up the EX2 with these drives, the system did not recognise them. I have two questions therefore:

  1. Can the EX2 receive and use existing Windows NTFS formatted hard drives without reformatting so that all of the existing data on those drives is retained and accessed through the EX2?
  2. If the answer to 1. is yes, then what do I need to do next to get the EX2 to recognise the drives?

Thank you!

Very unlikely; the MyCloud family uses an embedded Linux OS, and thus uses ext3 and ext4 Linux file systems.

You will be better off asking on the EX2 forum; this is for basic, single drive MyClouds.

You should also download and read the EX2 user manual; I’m sure it will explain how to install disks, and how to get them running, in whatever JBOD or RAID setup you want.
