First MKV that I could not get to play

I’ve had my SMP since launch and apart from the odd audio compression issue I’ve never had an MKV file/container that the SMP wouldn’t play. That is until last night…

No matter what I try (MKVmerge being my usual first option) the SMP simply refuses to play it.

Can anyone look at the file info and give me any hints as to why  I’m having this issue?

It’s right here:

Format profile : High 10@L5.1

Highest profile the WD supports is HP@L4.2.

Thanks for that Tony.

Is it any easy job to convert to a suitable format using something like mkvmerge?

No, MKVMerge doesn’t modify the codecs at all.  It just manages the container.

You’ll have to transcode the video using something like Handbrake, which can be a lengthy process.

There’s also the problem

Bit depth : 10 bits

Maximum is 8 bits. To Format profile use H264 Level Editor, but bit only file conversion :frowning:

Thanks guys.
