Files not syncing - cannot see on Android App

Hi there,

I recently bought a MyCloud 3Tb and have just switched it on and set it up for the first time.

I have WD Sync installed. I have copied some folders into the My Cloud “folder” (I assume this is not a real folder and is just a way to point WD Sync at the files you want to sync).

Some of them do not seem to be syncing. For example I have a folder called “keepass” which is on my D: drive. It contains one file, a keepass database. I copied it to the My Cloud folder and it appears there. But when I check my files from my Android phone it’s not there.

On the other hand, My Documents has mostly synced ok. But I have a folder: \Documents\Work which I can see from my phone - but I cannot see any of the files inside it.

Does anyone know why this is happening? Any help or advice much appreciated.

Update.

OK, I have logged in to my account on https://files.mycloud.com. On the left I can see 4 “clouds” (users?):

  • WDSync
  • .twonkymedia (whatever that is)
  • [my user name]
  • Public

Under WDSync I can see 2 directories:

  • My Documents
  • WDSync

I’m not sure why WD Sync appears in here again.

Inside WDSync I can see the folders that I have put into the WDSync folder on my PC - so something is vaguely working.

However, on my Android Client I don’t see the same top level user structure. I only see

  • .twonkymedia
  • [my user name]
  • Public

Can anyone explain why things are appearing in the “WDSync” folder, and not under my own name. Also - why I can’t see this WDSync folder from another device?

Thanks

Couple of things to try. Make sure none of the files being synced are in use by other programs. Try rebooting the computer. Make sure no other computers running WD Sync are syncing to the same specific subdirectory on the My Cloud.

Sometimes syncing will take a long time for what ever reason.

Or could do what others have done, dump the WD Sync program and use a third party sync program like Free File Sync (http://www.freefilesync.org/) for syncing while connected on the local network. Downside of Free File Sync is that it doesn’t do remote syncing (well it possibly can but involves some work on the users part via SSH or the use of VPN).
