Error Transfer Message

Sometimes I get this error message when trying to transfer over a file from my computer to my hard drive. It is a 500gb hard drive and it is mostly empty, so I dont understand why I get this message. For example, The item “The Dark Knight Rises” can’t be copied because it is too large for the volume’s format. It is a 7gb movie file and it seems like I can only transfer anywhere under 5-6gbs. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I fix it so I dont have to re-download the file all over again. Thanks for your help. Kyle

Check the partition type of the drive.   It sounds like it’s formatted as FAT32, which supports files no larger than 4GB.

I have no idea what that means or how to do that. How do I or is there a way to support larger files? Thanks

Maybe this will help.
