Drive Vanished from Network - Unable to find

First, sorry but don’t know much about how all this works. I have 2 My Cloud drives connected to my network. Yesterday I removed all the files from one of them as I am preparing to dedicate it to something else. Once it was empty I renamed the drive through the dashboard. Once I did it was no longer able to be connected to. Eventually it disappeared from my drive list completely. I have rebooted it and even reset it and the light is solid blue but I cannot seem to map it again.

During this time my WD Smartware has also stopped working. When I try to launch it I get an error saying it has stopped worked. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software but same issue. I am no longer able to locate the dashboard for the missing drive (or my other one). They do show up in my WD Access app, but when I select the drive and select map nothing happens.

I’m using Windows 10, and in addition to the My Cloud drives I also have a MyCloud personal cloud and external drive connected, though it was working fine with all of these for some time.

Any ideas how I can get access to the drive again, and why my Smartware software stopped working would be appreciated.

Thank you.

What was the purpose for renaming it? What is showing on your router as being connected to your network?
What are the lights doing on the rear of the My Cloud?

Are you able to provide an image of what comes up when you try to use SmartWare?

I have 2 of the drives. One I used to keep music on and the other videos and misc stuff. I am reorganizing and moved all my music and video files to the other drive, and photos, etc to this one. So I renamed it Photos (used to be Music).

My network shows the other drives fine, this one just no longer shows up. It is connected to the router just as before (I have disconnected and reconnected it to make sure it is connected securely). The only light on the back of the My Cloud is a blinking green light next to the network cable which runs to the router.

As for the SmartWare issue, I had to uninstall and reinstall it 3 times, but now it is working, but it is not showing this drive either. I will check the link too.

Thanks again.

Have you tried resetting your router? It sounds like the device name resolution has become confused.
