Download Folders from My Cloud to my hard drive in OS5

Continuing the discussion from Download file folders:

I just don’t believe WD has not worked around or even posted a good reason for not being able to download entire folders. Goodby FOREVER WD.

@arqlavalle
Are you able to provide an image of what you want to download or move from your My Cloud back to your computer?

This image shows me being able to move the Documents folder from my share, Horace, back to Documents on my desktop computer. I would use drag and drop.

I believe the OP was refering to the mobile app. . . .which had some serious usability limitations that were never addressed.

The title says to his hard drive.

I use the mobile app on my phone often, but I would never try to download anything while using my phone.

And the initial post of the referenced June 2021 discussion is:

What has happened to the option to download file folders online? Did I miss a setting on the dashboard?

How to Manage Files on My Cloud OS 5 and My Cloud Home Using Web and Mobile App

IMPORTANT:

Check the list below for management content limitations.

  • Web and Mobile App support Share, Rename, Move, and Delete functions.
  • Copy is not supported on Web and Mobile App.
  • Moving content between shares is not supported.
  • Download folders are not supported.
  • Downloads of multiple files are not supported on the mobile app.
  • There is a 100 file download limit for My Cloud OS 5 and My Cloud Home Web App

@arqlavalle, The workaround to this long standing My Cloud limitation is to setup a VPN server on the same local network at the remote My Cloud and access the My Cloud through the VPN tunnel using Windows File Explorer, Mac Finder, or mobile app File Manager. Some consumer routers (like Asus) include the ability to enable a VPN server to allow remote access to the local network. Or there are ways to setup a VPN server on SoC devices like a Raspberry Pi and similar. There are many DIY VPN server “how-to” guides available in a quick internet search using your favorite internet search engine.
