I am facing an urgent issue with my WD My Passport external hard drive and could really use some guidance.
Recently; my WD My Passport drive stopped being recognized by my computer. It is been my primary storage for important work documents and personal files. I have tried connecting it to different USB ports on both a Windows PC and a MacBook; but unfortunately; none of them detect the drive anymore.
Tried different USB cables and ports.
Checked Disk Management (Windows) / Disk Utility (macOS) but the drive doesn’t appear there.
Restarted both the com;puter and the external drive multiple times.
Tested the drive on another computer to rule ;out local issues.
I suspect there might be a hardware failure or possibly an issue with the file system. Is there any way to recover the data from the drive? I have crucial documents and personal files that I can’t afford to lose.
Could someone please advise on the best course of action? Are there recommended data recovery services or software that have worked well with WD drives in the past? Any guidance on how to troubleshoot further or recover my data would be greatly appreciated.
