Constant red light - G-Technology 12TB G-RAID with Thunderbolt 2 and USB 3.0

Hi there, I have a G|RAID with Thunderbolt (0G04093) 12GB with with Thunderbolt 2 and USB 3.0, that I’ve had for years. This morning I woke up to find several system messages stating that it had been disconnected without being ejected. Throughout the day I got a few more of the same messages. Looking at the front of the chassis, the red light is glowing constantly. Looking at the drives, both are also glowing red. The drives are cold to the touch, and the fan(s) aren’t on. I was going to troubleshoot by swapping the drives out temporarily, but it seems as though the device isn’t on at all.

Any suggestions on what can be done? I have a ton of data on the drives (setup in RAID-1).

RAID-systems can be used with a number of interfaces, including SATA, SCSI, IDE, or FC (fiber channel.) There are systems that use SATA disks internally, but that have a FireWire or SCSI-interface for the host system.

Hi kappabear - did you resolve this problem? I am now experiencing the same problem (red light is on) and my MacBook Pro doesn’t recognize that the GTech is attached. Of course, only 3 months after the warranty expired. Western Digital help desk - is no help.

Thanks

Since your setup is RAID-1, you should be able to recover the data from one of the drives if the unit isn’t responding. If the device remains unresponsive, consider using professional data recovery services to avoid potential data loss.
