Connect MyCloud as a Drive, Mac, remote

Hi,

when I am away from home, is it only possible to connect to the MyCloud via. the App and the Webfrontend or can I also connect it as a harddrive like I do at home?

Thanks!

Hi

You can load it as a harddrive if you log in to

https://www.wd2go.com/login.do

Thank you! Thats a nice first step.

Does anybody have an idear how to make this easier to use? I tried connecting directly using the Finders “connect to Server” function by using https:// and the webadress of my drive. I am being asked for Username and Password but than it fails.

Maybe make a shortcut to the network drive?

Thank you for the Input.

It doesn’t work but at least now I know that the Adress/Protocol/User/Password I’m using is all correct. So I guess the reason why connecting it directly is because WD doesn’t want u to.

It is sad for me because going throug the webinterface each time is at leats 6 Steps. That is not user friendly :frowning: What I find piticulaly sad is, that it is not possible to mount them through the WD MyCloud Desktop App. At least that should be possible. Using Java is really unhandy.

Maybe someone from WD could give a statement on this Topic?

I use a Mac and have to log in as “guest” to get it to work. But it does work. I don’t travel with my MacBook Pro, so I can’t attest to it working outside the home network. But give it a shot.

I created a bookmark with the static IP address I assigned as the destination. Then I just renamed it “My Cloud”.

Hope this helps.
