Changing internet providers and a new wifi....will my cloud work?

Hello all, I am moving, and will have a new internet provoder which means a new network.  What do I do to assure the transition? Will I lose everything?

Barring complete catastrophy in the move your data will be fine. You will more than likely have a new ip range for your connected devices. If you depend on your ISP for a wifi router then your wifi password will change.

Take things one step at a time … get your computer fully connected to the internet first!

Make sure you have your My Cloud set to DHCP, before you move, if you have it set to a Static IP. I am not sure if you own your router and modem, so if you are going to use one that is provided by your new ISP then I would do this to make things easier for your new network to find the My Cloud. Otherwise I would write down all my devices IP so I knew what they were … just in case.

Pack your My Clouds well and take special care of them, but as PJPfeiffer mentioned you will not lose anything.

Take a backup before you move. Whilst modern hard drives are pretty resilient to knocks whilst unpowered, there is always a chance that they will get dropped just a bit too hard.

Backups are very much recommended, anyway…
