Can't read/write/map MBL Duo 6TB

Hi, I used one 6TB MBL Duo to Back up another of the same.  Now when I try to access the backup drive it won’t let me read/write/map the shares.  I can see it on the dashboard and everything seems fine (5.5TB used of 6TB).  When I try to set up the drive again on my laptop using the downloaded setup file from WD, it checks the drive and says there is a problem and it couldn’t read/ and to contact support for a solution. I’ve also tried the reset buttom on the back of the unit to no avail. I currently have the drive connected to my laptop via. ethernet cbale. I’m running windows 8.1.

Any Ideas? Thanks.

Also, on the dashboard under network, It says no internet access even though my laptop is online and the duo is connected via. ethernet cable.

Hi mlb01, Did you change the name of one of the My Book Duo’s? Or both have the same network name?

The name is “My BookLiveDuo” on the dashboard.  The other unit is not connected.  Previously, both units were conneted to my router with on being used as a backup for the other.  Now, I have the backup unit only connected via. ethernet cable directly to my laptop. I can see the unit on my laptops network.  If I try to map tp public folder I get an error message "Windows can’t access “MyBookLiveDuo”, check spelling, or issue with network, yada yada…

Everything looks good on the dashboard except I can’t update the firmware.I get error message  31155 - No Internet access. Check your network and try again. I’m connected to the network with no issues. I even shut down the firewall on my security to no avail…

Well, I factory restored using PuTTY that I found on this message board.  I am now ble to map the drive to public folders, but can’t view the files. Properties shows 0 files; the dashboard shows 5.5TB so I know the files are there. I just can’t access them.Permissions on the file folder have nothing checked. When I try to change access permissions it’s denied. I still can’t do a firmware update becuase it says internet access not available. Any ideas?
