Hi,
I am using an old WD2200 hence the “MyCloud” access and not the “MyCloud home”.
I had stopped using it a few years ago but rediscovered it this week as I need to share all my pictures and personal movies within my home and on different platforms (iMac, McBook Air and laptop PC).
I want to add a new user and I can do that but I cannot access the box where I need to put the user email address: why is that and how can I overcome this?
Thanks!
Is this what you own ?
If not, have you searched the Knowledge Base to see if you can find anything about a WD 2200?
Yes, it is. And I have searched the community but didn’t find any topic related to it.
@jypoc2014
Using the Dashboard have you already looked at this? Are you able to provide an image of what you see? Where is the box missing for the new user email address?
When I click on the add user + icon this is what comes up. Click on, tap or activate image to enlarge it.
The above was from my 1st generation My Cloud firmware 04.xx.xx. This is from my 2nd generation My Cloud firmware 02.xx.xx
I have exactly the same boxes but one the one for the email address is not accessible (i.e. it is not possible to type into it). And what I find strange is that it is possible to create a user without an email address: but in that case, how can this user have access to the data? I am not interested in remote access but only in WIFI at home.
Have you read through the User Manual?

Does the other person have their own computer? If yes, then you need to add that device by looking under Cloud Access and creating a code that they will have to enter.
If you just want them to have access to certain things then place the contents in the Public Share or share with them and give them the type of access you want the person to have.
Yes, I’ve read the manual and tried to do exactly what they write there but it does not work (no way to enter an email address).
And yes, the other person has her own McBook Air…
Where do I have to do what you talk about (“Cloud Access”): on her Mac or on the WD2200 setup?
@jypoc2014 Has she downloaded and installed the mobile app for her device?

See image below showing Cloud Access. You can check in Help again for information on how to do this. In the image the top device is my tablet and my cell phone is below that.

She doesn’t have a mobile (Smartphone or tablet) but a Mac Book Air (= laptop from Apple) hence the link you provided for the mobile app does not apply.

I have not activated the remote access (outside from my home) to avoid cyber attacks: and anyway, since this can only work if I have been able to enter her email address, which I cannot… Or is-it because I have not activated the remote access that I cannot enter any email address? BTW I also cannot modify the current email address for every existing user…
There is no need to enter an email address when creating a new user if one is not going to use remote access/cloud access. The My Cloud uses the email address to send information to the user for remote access. For local network access to the My Cloud the email address is not needed.
When the Dashboard > Settings > Cloud Access feature is disabled (set to off) the email field is disabled for users (at least on the 4.x firmware first gen single bay My Cloud units).
My bad! I guess this is where the problem originates… Yes, that’s it: I have enabled the remote cloud and have been able to enter the email address )
Thank you for your help!
