Cannot connect my cloud on remote access

Generally, because WD has ended remote access support for OS3, the only option you can enable on (a single bay/single drive) OS3 My Cloud Dashboard that will allow remote access is FTP. But the FTP protocol IS NOT SECURE.

FTP IS NOT SECURE! YOU USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK FOR REMOTE ACCESS! OPENING FIREWALL PORTS INCORRECTLY IS POTENTIALLY A NETWORK SECURITY RISK! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

As has been repeatedly indicated you can setup a VPN Server (OpenVPN for example) on your local network which should allow for remote access. You do not set a VPN server up on your OS3 My Cloud. You set the VPN server up on another computer, device or if your router supports it, on the router itself.

Setting up your own method is remote access like VPN is generally something you will have learn how to do yourself by searching the internet. Or you can choose to hire someone local to you who can come over to your location and setup a VPN server on your local network. Or you can simply buy a new network attached storage device that has remote access capability to replace the My Cloud.

hello my friend, good morning … listen i have a problem with my old nas wd. unfortunately I don’t remember anymore or something happened to the password to access the nas. through retre I enter the folders but from webui no. can you help me please>?

Do a search for “4 second reset”.

You will lose the network configuration; and you will have to setup the admin account from scratch. . . (because you are removing the account passwords which you have forgotten) .but all the data will remain on the drive.

If by “webui” you mean MyCloud.com, Western Digital has ended, this past April, OS3 support using the MyCloud.com web portal and using the OS3 My Cloud mobile apps.

If one is having trouble accessing the My Cloud Dashboard then see the following WD Knowledge Base articles.

Option A: 4 Second Reset (Reset with Power On)

The 4 Second Reset will reset the following:

  • Admin Password (No password by default)
  • Network Mode (Default = DHCP)

Note: The 4 Second Reset will only reset the Admin Password. It will not reset the Admin User Name. In order to reset the Admin User Name perform Option B - the 40 Second Reset outlined below.

To execute the 4 Second Reset:

  • With the power on, using a paperclip or narrow tipped pen, press and hold the reset button for at least 4 seconds. The reset process will cause the device to reboot and may take up to 5 minutes to complete. Please wait until the Power LED is solid blue, indicating the device is ready to use.

oh thanks mister, i have solved…all ok. only ona a little problem. led blu it’s off. it’s normally? into web ui is enabled

The blue LEDs frequently burn out on these devices.
