If the answer is “no” then there is no point in my upgrading. I am currently running a WD LIVE beta firmware that supports DVD menus. Lack of DVD menu support is a very big problem because DVD images can’t be navigated.
1.03.49_V is the most recent Final version that works well with DVD’s including menus in my experience. The latest firmware has stuttering when playing DVDs. But, my advice is that if the player is working how you want it to, don’t upgrade.

Thanks Gavin. I like the idea of USB keyboard support though, I don’t think I have it on my beta bios installed sometime last year.
The USB keyboard works with 1.03.49_V - and there is no lag. I’m using an Apple USB keyboard so I presume that others are fine too.
I have downloaded it and will install it.
Guys, what software do you use to rip or copy the dvd to say a Nas drive, as when i rip a dvd to a Nas and access the file the menu appears but dont have any icons to move inorder to select the film or chapter, clearly i am doing something wrong just not sure what, be grateful for any advice

Try DVDFab, it has a trial period but even after that it does the basic rip. Should be no different playing from a NAS if you are connecting via Network Shares. Its best to rip to a image (.iso), that keeps the whole DVD together in one big file.
Thanks Rich, for the info, i have had a look at DVDfab, but cant find from the pick list of items anything that say ISO, any idea where it is located?
many thanks
When selecting a DESTINATION, instead of clicking the FOLDER icon, ciick the DISK icon.
Gavin
I am really glad I stumbled upon this thread because I thought keyboard support came out with 1.04. When I rolled back to 1.03.49 I unplugged my USB keyboard thinking there was no point in leaving it there. Lo and behold I just plugged it in and you are right - it works! Now I have no reason to ever upgrade!
Tony Many thanks your a star, i will give it a go tomorrow. as you are also Rich
cheers,
Rich, I have ripped a couple od DVD’s now to my Nas drive as an ISO file, but my WDTV, cant see the the ISO file, mind you i have just got a new WDTV from the shop as still having big problems with Firware. Are teh later releases of firmware only capable of seeing the ISO files?
Thanks

To see iso files you will have to connect to your NAS via network shares as its likely that your NAS media server does not serve iso files.
