Blinking Yellow and No Ethernet Lights

wdbctl0020hwt. Tonight the front light is blinking solid yellow. I get no ethernet lights on the back. Tested the Ethernet cable on my laptop and it is working. Connected the device to my Mac, but device does not register. called tech support and they said the drive could be bad or the Ethernet port is bad. Could either of those be true?
