Can I back up files from these 2 computers, and will the external drive (My Book Essential) save both and keep both separate.

I do use a single Passport external drive for both a Desktop and a Laptop with WD Smartware program. I don’t know if would work with My Book. I do have to move the Passport from computer to computer. I have not tried to use it over the WiFi network. The key, though is to divide the external drive into 2 or more partitions and assign them to the appropriate computer drives.
