Backing Up Data - Help

Hi. Apologies if this seems a really simple thing. I want to know some best, and simple solutions to backing up our Data on My Cloud. We recently lost 6 months of data because of a failure to back up a WD MyBookLive unit.
We use the My Cloud device to hold all our files in our office. 4 of us access, update and create files stored on the new My Cloud. This is only about 1TB of data. What we would like is have these files backed up every night to a cloud storage system. The 1st update would be very time consuming I sure, but after that something that just scans the files and update anything new or updated.
Any advice. By The Way, we are shoe designers and not to techy, so just love something simple and logical.

Thanks

Gareth

My suggestion, first determine which generation of My Cloud you have, then read the User Manual. Use this link,
https://support.wdc.com/product.aspx?ID=904&lang=en .

I use SmartWare, you will have to determine if it will work with your My Cloud.

As the previous poster indicated, read the My Cloud User Manual for your My Cloud model.

WD offers Smartware for Windows PC’s and one can use Apple Time Machine on Mac’s to backup to a My Cloud.

There are a number of paid and free third party backup programs one can use to backup a PC or Mac to a network attached storage device lie the My Cloud. Here are some examples of free programs.

EaseUS Todo Backup Free: http://www.easeus.com/
Macrium Reflect Free: http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx
Paragon Backup and Recovery 14 Free: http://www.paragon-software.com/home/br-free/download.html
Free File Sync: http://www.freefilesync.org/

It appears the remote cloud storage is the main desire here. Which isn’t covered by the user manual.

Cheers.

If one wants to try and backup to a remote cloud service then one can try the unofficial Goodsync. Note modifying the My Cloud using SSH may void the warranty and or incorrectly modifying the My Cloud firmware using SSH can potentially brick/render unusable the My Cloud device.
