Attached USB External Drive

So I attached an external drive via the USB port. In the dashboard the My Cloud see’s it attached. I mapped the drive as well but I do not see it on my network to access it. What am I missing?

I’m using a Windows 10 PC

When attaching a USB hard drive to the My Cloud, the drive should show up as a Share within the My Cloud and be accessable to Windows File Explorer like any other My Cloud Share.

One can control access to the USB drive Share using the My Cloud Dashboard.

I am having a similar issue. I have a WD Elements 500 GB hard drive. When I plug it in, I can only see it in the drop down and it shows no storage available. I have formatted the drive more than once in different formats and still nothing. I also do not see it pop up in my Shares when viewing the dashboard through the web. Would it be because the external HD is too old to be compatible with the My Cloud (not My Cloud Home)?
