Access to admin

My EX2 ultra is sporting a nice shiny red LED on disk 2, but while it is working and accessible via the cloud, if I try to access http://(IP Address) or http://(Device Name) fail

It fails, can’t ping it, tried multiple browsers

I bought this in January, and I didn’t unbox it and install it until late February. Then the hack. Got a notice about a firmware update recently.

Now a dead HD, after four months of use…and can’t get to the admin page to correct the problem

google, bing, chat-gpt, bard, the knowledge base here…I hate admitting defeat and asking for help

help
(っ◔◡◔)っ  HELP

I can see it on the network from my router admin console…copying the name or the address from the list of devices connected to the wired network from the router admin console to a browser yields

with the IP address
ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

with the name
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

did the 40 sec reset, now I can’t connect at all SMDH

I can’t send it back to amazon as I am past the return window

Can I pull the drives and format them to use them in a workstation, or are they crippled to only work in these NAS boxes?

Hi @griff.ferrell,

Have you opened a Support Case? If not opened, for more information, please contact the WD Technical Support team for the best assistance and troubleshooting:

@griff.ferrell You should be able to re-purpose the drives.
We bought a few of these WD NAS boxes where I work. We have chosen to not continue fighting through the problems and have pulled the drives out of most of them for use in PCs as normal storage drives. Thus far, the drives themselves have worked great even if the NAS they came out of did not.
