4K video buffers using Plex

Hi, I don’t know if this is a My Cloud issue, but I’ll try.

I’m running Plex on a My Cloud EX2 Ultra, not transcoding, and when I try to watch 4K videos it stops and buffers like the wifi were slow. The thing is I have optical fiber and according to the test, the TV is downloading at 200mbps. I think that should be enough, right?

Can you help me? Thank you!

Hi @Dieguez,

Hi Dieguez. So you have a high speed fibre Internet but you need to explain your network topology a bit better. Are all the units on the same Ethernet connected subnet or is there any Wireless connectivity involved?

Yes, the TV is connected via wifi. The My Cloud via ethernet.

The wireless test you have run on the TV may well just be ‘one-way’ and not account for the duplex overheads caused by actual traffic.

Might seem obvious but the duplex overheads plus other bandwidth load on the Wireless network needs to be discounted first. Are you able to connect the TV to the Ethernet subnet?
