1TB External HD won't power on

I know there’s probably plenty of threads on this but I couldn’t find one to help me.

I have a 1TB WD external hard drive (doesn’t have a power switch) and had it about 8 months. Today it stopped turning on. Power is reaching it as the blue LED shines on. I have attached it to the wall socket. I have unplugged and plugged everything back in several times, but there is no spinning within the drive that i usually hear and of course it’s not showing up in Finder.

I’d hate it if there was nothing I can do.

Please help

If your data are more valuable than your warranty, remove the drive from the enclosure.

Then connect it directly to your computer’s motherboard. This will isolate the fault to the drive, or to the USB-SATA bridge board inside the enclosure.

Here is another idea:

Try another known good 12V 1.5Amp AC Adapter.

The current adapter you have might be weak now or does not have enough juice.

After you have tried this suggestion and still have the same problem.

Call WD tech support to get further help.
