Windows 10 update - Network Shares problem

I am using an HP desktop, with a Buffalo router. I have a older WDTVLive, which has worked fine for the past several years.

Last night MS did a Windows 10 update. Now my WD will not connect to my network shares (external drives), it does connect to media shares on the HP. I have reconfirmed that my external drives are all being shared via control panel.

Can anyone please advise on how to reconnect with my external drives through network shares?

Thank you,

Dave B.

Hi there, if you’re looking to share folders on your computer to be viewed on the media player then please refer to the link provided below:

This is a problem started with upgrade to Windows 10, creators edition, version 1703. I don’t know of a solution yet:

There is a much deeper discussion of this same issue here: WD TV Live Streaming Media Player, Windows 10, SMB v1 network protocol - #33 by timbeaudet

The issue is that Microsoft disabled SMBv1 during those updates, and WD TV only communicates over that. There is supposedly a way to enable this feature in those versions Windows 10 by looking through the features, however I was unable to get this work. Luckily for the time being I’ve been able to revert to older versions of Windows but this is unsustainable.
