If I’m going to trust you with with my stuff at a minumn I have to trust in your product. If I can not easily find a logoff\logout button that gives me a clear indication on what my status is “AM I ON OR OFF” I ask you where is my confidence level at this point.
this I will say, I will not put “anything” in your cloud that I would take issue with if it were posted in the morning paper or segmented for the next half\hourly news production.
Come-on this is a no brainer, give me an easy to find/use logoff/logout button and my confidence is restored, and I’m talking up your product.
If you are the administrator then yes you can a logout in the settings if you are logged into the dashboard. So as you are aware there are 3 perhaps 4 different ways to access some or all of the management capabilities, provided your logged in with full Admin. access.
Local Dashboard 192.168.xxx.xxx
Here’s the real issue and there are gripes, complaints, B…etc. from just about any place on the Inter-web, that contains any information related to this product. Non-Admins have no clear-cut method for logging out\off.
So if I’m sharing a document or using the Cloud’s disk to store info. that I may want others to have access to for whatever good reason. This is outside of my intranet, using the WD client App, the first thing I hear is “How in the H### do I logout\off of this session". Depending on your Configuration that can be answered very simple for a few…to there is no way that is visible/logical to them.
So yes I’ve read and re-read the documentation, I know that this fourm is not to gripe directly at WD however I’m fairly certain that they troll these types of groups looking for ??? This is the perfact place to find your R&D data without having to interact directly with the pissed-off consumer.
Seeing that they recently released a firmware update and did not address this issue is sad and makes me wonder, So let’s see how many folks have the same types of issues and see what happens.
I am using the desktop version of mycloud. I have no menu that has a disconnect option (as seen in a screenshot someone posted with the same question) nor do I have anything in settings to log off/out. This seems so odd that I am one of so many people finding this difficult. It seems like a very simple thing that pretty much every program in existence where you log in contains a log out function not too hard to find.
What are you attempting to “log off/out” of? The My Cloud Dashboard? The My Cloud Desktiop program/software? Or are you trying to shutdown or power down the My Cloud?
The second generation single bay v2.x firmware My Cloud units do not have a shutdown option in the My Cloud Dashboard. Users of the v2.x single bay My Cloud units should see the following WD Support Knowledgebase article for more information on how to shutdown their units.
I just set up my initial accounts and I am trying to access mycloud from my laptop computer. I used a link that was automatically sent after I created the accounts. I don’t think it is the dashboard which I think is part of the admin account. I am logged in to the additional user (my husband) I set up. But I want to log in to my/admin account but can’t figure out how to get out of my husbands’ account. I have attached a screenshot.
The image you posted is the MyCloud.com web portal not the My Cloud Dashboard. Generally (depending on how the My Cloud is configured) only the “admin” account on the My Cloud can access/log into the My Cloud Dashboard. Further, generally the My Cloud Dashboard cannot be accessed outside the local network.
One would need the email address and password used by the “admin” account to create the MyCloud.com account. The My Cloud Dashboard User accounts are seperate and different than the MyCloud.com account.
For local network access one does not need to use the MyCloud.com web portal or any of the WD programs/software to access a local My CLoud device. One would use Mac Finder or Windows File Explorer for local My Cloud access. It makes things easier to “map” a local My Cloud to one’s computer. If you haven’t already done so read the My Cloud User Manual (https://support.wdc.com/product.aspx?ID=904) to learn more about local and remote access to the My Cloud. And see the following WD Support Knowledgebase articles.
Did you change your admin user name? To your name, for instance?
If there is any doubt, you can revert the admin username and clear the password by doing a 40-second reset (system only restore). This will not delete any data. Remove power. Press and hold reset. Apply power. Wait 40 seconds. Release reset.
A 4-second reset merely clears the admin password, not the user name. It will probably be worth trying this first.
I take it that you have been able to access the Dashboard previously, from the network and computer you are currently trying to access it from? I also assume that your front panel LED is blue, and the network port LEDs are active.
First, see the following link which explains various ways to access the My Cloud Dashboard.
Second, perform either a 4 second reset to clear the administrator (user name: admin) password (default is no password), OR perform a 40 second reset to clear the settings and return the My Cloud Dashboard to default. No user data is harmed when performing a 4 second or 40 second reset.
