Whitelist problems

Hello
I want to rebuild a DX4000 with new drives. I have read up the threads, downloaded EMEA_SvrRecovery_1_7_6_21_.iso, extracted the files with NHC Experss Zip and built a 16Gb Kingston USB key O.K.
On the key I can find the WDRECOVERY folder and the 2 files WhitelistK.XML amd WhitelistS.XML.
When I try to open them with Notepad to edit in a new drive type they appear to contain rubbish.

I have done this twice

Any Ideas what is going wrong

Whitelists.xml below.

Any ideas what is going wrong?

My guess is you extracted the iso instead of mounting the iso. You are supposed to mount the iso and run setup. from the screen with the 3 options you do the second/middle one first

Thank You Gramps were correct I down loaded Deamon Tools mounted the drive and built the USB. I can edit the WhiteLists so will carry on with the process.

Hello Gramps
OK I started again fresh. Ran setup and at first screen " Server Recovery Utilities" I selected second Option " Recreate My Storage" and built the USB ok. I edited WhitelistK and WhitelistS by adding the Bottom line below to both Files
WhiteListK.xml

I then rebooted the DX4000 with Reset depressed and the files installed. The DX display then came back “Recreate Storage Failed”. I am not surprised by this as there are only 2 new drives in the box, so there was nothing to recreate.

Do I now press on with option 3 “Perform A Recovery” or do I have a problem to resolve?
Many Thanks Falcons 3

to be honest I have never done these edits but obviously you have something wrong.
There should be a log file on your thumb drive with hints.
You need to search this forum for more examples.
I think from what I have seen is the info listed above is inadequate

see here…more details than just model/SN

I checked the recovery.log file and the modified Whitelists seem to have been accepted as OK. Both disks have been detected inc Serial Numbers and marked as Pass-thru.
About half way down the file just under “Physical Disks Controlled by RAID S/W” there is a warning, “No Raid Volume Detected”.

Total Physical Disks = 2

RAID Volumes

Total Volumes = 0

RAID Arrays

Total Arrays = 0

Further on in the file the number of " Total Physical Disks" drops from 2 to 0 and no version number for Driver or OROM. In addition further down It deletes All Raid Volumes and then Re-creates Raid Volume, but is still unable to detect the Volume?

I am not sure how to interpret this or what to do to fix it?

Recovery.log attached.

Thanks

Look at this thread. I think the problem and I really have no clue why but it is the Passthrough. He linked the file that worked and it is says claimed. If you search for CLAIMED_DISK you will see a lot of hits
I have no clue what he did but seems like he may have had a bad bay?

There is some fellow on here that was the expert on whitelist. I think I would keep searching for whitelist. I will also look
