I am beyond disappointed with the software that comes with this device. All it does is constantly cause me frustration.
Why do I need to log back into WD discovery every time my PC boots up?
Why can’t I select more than one file at a time and download them in the MyCloud Android app?
Why does the automatic backup on my phone only work half the time?
But most frustratingly of all, it is completely impossible to find some things. When I first got my MyCloud Home, I installed Plex on it to watch movies and TV shows from it. Since then, I forgot the IP address for my Plex server. I tried finding literally any mention of Plex AT ALL in both WD Discovery or on MyCloud.com and there just isn’t anything. The Apps listed in WDD are Security, Backup, and Drive Utilities. Nothing else. No Plex. On MyCloud.com there isn’t even a bloody apps button at all. Why the hell isn’t there just a really obvious, big, orange Plex button in WD Discovery? How the hell do I access my Plex server? Where do I see if it’s even still installed? Where do I re-install or uninstall it? Why is all of this so painful and frustrating to find out that I have to come here and whine about it like a kindergartener who can’t get his bottle open?
I’m honestly hoping that I’m stupid and someone can point out I’m missing something obvious because I don’t know what to do anymore. I expected a local version of OneDrive. What I got is OneDrive’s smaller, dumber brother who can’t even tie his ■■■■ shoes.
