What is a good transfer speed over Wifi?

Hello.

I just recently installed a Wd MyCloud 2TB. Its connected to a Tp-Link Archer C7 router… I have a 100 mbit internet connection at home.

Im only testing my transfer speed with files over wifi at home.

So I recently did some speed tests. I have the latest MacBook Pro and transferring 1.6 gb movie… And I’m getting on average 37 mb/s write and 42 mb/s read. With a folder with pics I’m getting 12 mb/s write and 15 mb/s read.

I have nothing to compare this with… Is this good or bad?

Does anyone have better over wifi? What gear are you using?

I also did a few speed tests:

This subforum (My Cloud) is for the single bay/single drive My Cloud devices. the WD My Book is a different device. See the dedicated subforum for external Mac drives or Windows drives depending on your My Book model.

Sorry my mistake… Its a my cloud not a my book… I wrote that by mistake.

That isn’t too shabby at all, considering that this is actually a weak-kneed home appliance.

The “gigabit” port is not really gigabit transfer speeds, if I recall correctly. That is pretty good considering it is wifi.

Remember that there is going to be protocol and session overhead in the transfer speeds, especially when there are many small files being copied, since the protocol has to keep renegotiating on each subsequent transfer.

Ya, I thought so too… It will be interesting to see what speeds other people are getting here. So I have something to compare with.
