What are the random 7 digit alpha-numeric files for

I have many 7 digit alpha-numeric g=files showing on the iPad and Android Phone app such as wnho-7a The last was dated July 2023 and going back to May 2019. Are they essential to keep or can they be deleted. They don’t appear when I log in through the web page in Windows.

WD Technical state the files are empty and are most likely generated with the previous use of WD Discovery which is no longer available.
They are not part of the system and can be safely removed.

If you read into the My Cloud Home sync process you would come upon similar 7-character files observation and that the MCH sync is based on the opensource Syncthing.

Random files on home directory

MCH sync is based on the the opensource syncthing where similar problem occurred. Temporary files are removed after 24h. However leftover syncthing.*.tmp files are a sign of incomplete or aborted sync progress, so you should probably investigate that (possible question: are the non-temporary files really equivalent to the source and are the temp files also equivalent or different?). Most users don’t bother to check and just delete them after a while.

The dates when the files were saved do start and finish around the time I started and finished using WD Discovery, and as WD Technical have confirmed they have no data in them, they can safely be removed.
