Western Digital Elements: Dead Power Supply. Where to source legit replacement?

I have this product:

WD Elements 2TB USB 2.0 External Desktop Hard Drive - Black
P/N: WDBAAU0020HBK-01

The power adaptor is dead, so the drive doesn’t work. I’ve used a “known working” adaptor from a different WD external drive to confirm this; the drive works fine with that adaptor.

So I need a replacement, and I’d like to source it from a trustworthy supplier as I’ve got concerns about shonky electronics that might be substandard if purchased from a third party - I don’t want it catching fire or being otherwise dangerous.

How to proceed here - I cannot see that WD will supply the replacement part (unfortunately).

The Part Number on the tag on the adaptor is 4064-705060-018 AE

Thank you.

The only place you could easily find replacement power supplies would be ebay or amazon … but if you’re concerned about shonky electronics i guess those two places would be out.

Another option is to buy a 3rd party 3.5" USB Enclosure which will come with a Power Supply … and remove the internal hard drive from the Elements enclosure and put it in the 3rd Party Enclosure.

Thank you, that’s a good idea.

It would be great if WD could just ship you a replacement adapter for a nominal fee though!
