Hi, can anyone tell me what power cable this uses? I know it’s an old one, but I want to access data on it and have lost the power cable. It seems to be an unusual size (the connector end, not the plug).

Also, is there any way to retrieve data from it if it doesn’t power up? Before I stopped using it, I dropped it and the drive inside didn’t seem to be working as it didn’t spin. I’ve just realised there is some important stuff on it.

Please read this earlier post.

You can search Amazon or eBay using your model number and find a power supply. OR you can buy an empty usb enclosure (one that comes with a PS), remove the drive from the old one and insert into the new one.

If you damaged the WD enclosure (not the drive itself), the swap should work. If you damaged the drive, you may still be able to use some recovery software.

One step at a time.
