WDTV Live sometimes it can been seen on home network and sometimes not

Hi All,

I have a wdtv live media player. it’s connected to my wireless modem. Sometimes when I open my " Libraries" file on my laptop ( windows 7 service pack 1) in the “NETWORK” section WDTV Live is there and can be accessed and sometimes it’s not.

I have rebooted laptop, modem and WDTV many times.

In the last 2 months I’ve changed both my laptop and Modem.

If I go to control panel - Devices and printers . the WDTV Live is there and has the message currently in use.

If I go to properties. This device is working properly.

Still within the properties if I click on " Hardware" there are two devices WDTV Live and “Digital Media device”

is this a fault with the WDTV live or am I doing something stupid?

Are you able to access your WD TV from your network by using its IP address instead of navigating through Windows explorer when this happens?

Thanks for that but when I search via the ip address I get to the web page “WD TV live” with “Settings” and “Friendly Names”

There are no links nor anywhere to click to go access the drive.

I could be doing something wrong

I actually meant using the IP address of your WD TV as a local resorce in Windows Explorer as opposed to a web browser.

The correct syntax would be \yourIPaddress on the Windows Search box or Windows Explorer.

**bleep** it I thought we had a solution but I’m getting the message Windows cannot access \… check the spelling etc etc

Or I’m still doing something wrong. cheers

Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.
