WDTV cannot see Synology via Linux share, can via DLNA

I have a new WDTV player. Actually works very well with my library of MKV files, which I can access via my Synology media server. However, in spite of trying everything, I cannot connect the Synology as a network share, even though other devices on my network, including my Panasonic BR-player, can do so without a hitch.

I have NFS enabled, but when I try to connect to a Linux share all I get is the spinning arrow, not even an IP address to connect to.

Any ideas? Do I need to set up an account on the Synology, if so what userid and password should be specified?

Thanks.

The following link contains instructions for NFS sharing with a WD TV in a Mac OS system. Perhaps it will be able to give you a hint with regards to the configuration for your Synology device.

Thanks for the link. Actually, not long after posting, some random combination of re-starting the network service on my NAS and re-booting the WDTV, the NAS IP appeared under linux shares and I connected straight away, and was able to configure other shares on my NAS to appear. I’m not sure why the WDTV resolutely refused to see the NAS as a linux share for the first day or two even though it was accessing the NAS media server, but anyway it’s working now.
