WD's Default Password

Attention: Western Digital Company

Re: WD’s Default Password - My Passport Ultra 2TB External Drive

I am using Windows 7 Professional on my lenovo T400 ThinkPad.

When I type my Password for accessing my files on my External Drive, it is not recognized.

I have Proof of Purchase/Ownership for my My Passport Ultra 2TB External Drive, can Western Digital please help me with a Company-Default-Password so I can access my files on the External Drive?

Thank you

There is no default password. They come out of the box with no password protection enabled.

Tony,

Can you please recommend a company where I can take my W.D. External
Hard-Drive so they can open the case to get physical-access to the Disk to
extract my files?

The Disk is not damaged. All my Files are correctly-written onto the
Disk.

Since my Password does not work, all I need is for a reputable company to
extract/read my files from the Disk once the case is opened.

I thank you for any help you can provide regarding this issue.

It’s not possible. Without a password, it won’t be possible to decrypt the files even if they’re recovered.

Tony,

I probably forgot the password, but I believe I can recall-it (if you help
me with the following questions) because I have a general-idea as to which
password I used to protect my External Hard-Drive.

Please help me with answers to the questions below (regarding Password
Requirements) for the “My Passport Ultra 2TB” :

Question #1: What are the Minimum & Maximum number of characters
required ?

Question #2: Are both Upper & Lower Case letters required ?

Question #3: Are Special Characters required (i.e., $, @, #, etc.) ?

If you help me with the Mandatory Password Requirements for my Specific WD
External Hard-Drive, I believe that I can recall the correct password that
I used to protect my H.D.

Please have patience with me; I am not asking about how to create an ideal
password, I am asking about the Mandatory Requirements (from Western
Digital) for creating a Password for the “My Passport Ultra 2TB” External
Hard-Drive.

Thanks a lot for helping me with the (3) questions above.

I don’t have the answers to those questions, but I would imagine the user manual might…

I don’t know if help to get your password back but here are the answers to your questions.

Question #1: What are the Minimum & Maximum number of characters
required ? 1 - 25 characters

Question #2: Are both Upper & Lower Case letters required ? NO

Question #3: Are Special Characters required (i.e., $, @, #, etc.) ? NO

If you not able to retrieve the password. Then just do enter the password 5 times error out and you will have to option to reformat your drive again. But again you will loose all your old data
