For some reason I am now unable to access one of my shares on my WDMyCloud drive over my home network from one of my computers. I can access it from my laptop over WiFi, using windows explorer to access it as a network drive, but when I try to access it the same way from my desktop over the wired network, the username and password prompt keeps appearing and it does not accept my credentials. I have used the WD My Cloud browser interface to create a user account with full access to all shares, but the credentials are not accepted when I try to access the only share which is not public access, even though my account has full access to it. The message which appears tells me that the share is not accessible and that I might not have access to it. My laptop can access it just fine over the house Wifi. Any help would be massively appreciated!
Are you running a domain controller at home, or only PCs? Suggest checking the “workgroup” setting on all PCs and the My Cloud box, and make them match. If you do have a domain controller (I do), set the workgroup on the My Cloud to the same name as your domain. That will give you Windows 2000-style networking and make you look like the same user from each PC.
If that doesn’t do it, try logging in domain-style (even though the My Cloud doesn’t participate in domain networking). Try “<wdmycloud_host_name>\admin” with your admin password.
Also note that for some reason, My Cloud might not be allowing your user accounts (other than Admin) to log in (see my recent post in this forum on that issue). Quite a few other people are starting to experience that same issue with their My Cloud boxes.
