No. First generation single bay My Cloud units running v4.x firmware cannot be updated to OS5. The second gen single bay My Cloud units running the v2.x firmware can be updated to OS5. No one cannot update a first gen single bay My Cloud running v4.x firmware to the second gen single bay My Cloud v2.x firmware.
One should review the various complaints and issues with OS5 to make an informed decision if they want to upgrade to OS5. Some users are finding they are loosing some features when they upgrade to OS5. Others have found their devices rendered unusable for a time post update to OS5.
