I have WD tv live hooked up to a TV that is in a camper has no wifi , cable no TV service, I am only able to watch what I have on my external hard drive with media player .My old HD crashed and I now have a WD my book live , I downloaded some movies and music on to it ,took it to my camper and hooked it to my WD Media player BUT will not play movies /Videos , I keep getting a message about … not being able to connrct to network ( well there is no network just TV and media player) however the music will play and it shows files/folders if I click a video to play it will start then I will get that message, my question is this the wrong External hard drive to use for what I need , and if it is correct , why is it not working?
A Network error message when trying to play local usb content ? … i don’t believe that’s possible
-
Double check the error message
-
Try a factory reset ( Setup > System > Device Reset > Reset All Settings Back to Factory Default )
-
Your videos are the correct “Source” ? ie. go to your videos press the RED button on the remote and select “Local Storage”

My … My Book Live and WD Elements work fine with all my WDTV’s
Why has iView been removed. That was one of the main reason I have bought 2 of these players and recommended this unit.
Why can’t it have Netflix.
i already gave you the ABC iView answer here:

As for Netflix … most probably because Netflix changed their API and most probably a licensing issue
Time to sell your devices if you want ABC iView & Netflix (which is what i use my PS3 for)
