I have bought the media player around 9 months back
Current FW: 1.03.07
I have my movies on the WD My Cloud NAS box
I normally play the movies from either the TV or the WD TV media player, where I normally have the srt file saved along each movie file, and yes they are the same name (I prefer to play from WD TV for the media management and playing the media is much more advanced and customizable)
So the subtiles play well when played from the LG Web OS 2 TV, I can toggle through the subtiles including the one I have downloaded and saved, and it was pretty much the same with the WD TV media player.
However, recently the WD TV media player have decided not to even detect the saved srt file for each and every movie file, but what is even more weird, it shows English subtiles, which are not even embedded nor saved as srt files along with the movie files.
All my movie files are mkv.
What I have done recently (not sure if related) is performed a factory reset on the WD My Cloud NAS box due to some issues I have been facing previously, but now they are sorted out.
Kindly advise
It has to be getting the subtitles from “somewhere” … you do know the wdtv supports more the SRT subtitles ?
eg. other supported subtitle formats (which will be most likely embedded in the mkv file) ![]()
If you find none of the embedded in your mkv file then the only other possible explanation is the English Subs are “Hardcoded” which is not possible to remove (unless you resort to clipping or blurring the video file)
OK, so it is getting it from some where. Why isn’t it reading the saved. Srt subs, while my vlc and my lg TV do?
And what happened so that it stopped reading them?
