hello, wondering if i can get some help. I have a WDTV live plus player and i just purchased a 4tb wd mybook external hd. my player for some reason wont read the hd. the usb light on the player flashes for a few seconds then stays off. I have latest firmware and ive tried both usb ports on player. anyone ever have this issue?

I have not tried this with this unit. Lets see if another user can share some tips and information on this matter.
Try: -Safely ejecting drive from computer -A different HD if you have one -Turning WD on first then connecting HD while it’s on -Disk Manager Menus -Different AC outlet Report back on these, good luck
My WD 4tb elements was working fine for about a week with my wdtv then suddenly the wdtv couldn’t see it.
Windows 8 would only do a quick reformat - didn’t resolve problem (tried a full reformat but it just hung)
Windows 8 scan disk found no errors - didn’t resolve problem
I then used minitool partition wizard (other programs may work (I obviously haven’t tried)
reformat option (was effectively just a quick format) - didn’t resolve problem
’ check file system’ option, found no errors but made file system corrections — Solved problem

My WD 4tb drive now again works perfectly fine with my WDTV
ALSO - do not let windows try to update the HD with the ‘WD SES Device’ - some kind of virtual disk or something
