WD Passport not detected

Good day,

“My Passport 2tb” drive i own stopped working recently. it is not detected by windows but after some time shows up in the disk management as unallocated space.

There is no clicking sound (not yet) just the normal humming sound the drive makes when it is inserted.

The light in front of the drive blinks too

The day it stopped working.

It was working one fine day when i plugged it out forcibly from the usb slot because it was not ejecting successfully.

Next day tried it and it was not working.

What i have tried so far.

-Putting it in a freezer and then plugging it in. Didnt work.

-Updated the Firmware of the drive. Successful but still not detected. (Does this mean it is reading/writing successfully?)

-Tried “chkdsk”. Gave an error.

-Tried various softwares for repairing/recovering data/diagnosing the problem. none worked

Any help is appreciated.

Gracias.

Hello and welcome to the WD Community.

If the drive is showing as unallocated, means that the partition of the unit might be corrupted.

As a recommendation, try using a data recovery software to see if you can get the data out of the drive.

Once you do that, the drive might need to be initialize to re-create the partition. This will take you to format the drive and any previews information will be erase.
