My new MyCloud storage works on my internal network at home. I can’t access the files from an external source however. The helpdesk, after a number of hours trying to resolve the issue are now suggesting my bog standard router (BT) needs port forwarding mods. I cant believe this is correct as this requires me dropping firewall protection and fiddling around with what is probably the most used router in the country. I thought this system was supposed to be plug and play?
Yes, in most of the cases you will need to enable port forwarding to allow remote access.
Due to some firewalls block the connection, you will need to grant permissions for the unit. Keep in mind that you can always restore your firewall once you create a rule for the My Cloud.
