I have purchased 2 of the My Book 8TB external hard drives and 1 of the 6TB My Book external hard drives.
Both of the 8TB drives are not functional.
The 6TB drive works as it should.
After unboxing and plugging into the Windows computer the 8TB drives do not show up.
I have downloaded the Dashboard 3.2.2.9 from the WD website and the drives show only a capacity of 500GB.
I run the Short Diagnostic test and get failed error code:7.
I was planning on converting the drives to internal drives so I opened up one of the 8TB drives that wasn’t being recognized and found a 500GB WD5000AACS drive inside. I can only assume the same is inside the other but do not want to open it up for warranty issues.
I have sent support an email over 1 week ago with no response.
Has anyone else heard of this or am I missing something and is this supposed to be a 500GB drive inside of what claims to be a 8TB drive?
