I have been using my passport ultra for about a month now i have always been plugging it in to a usb 3.0 port since it is usb 3.0 but all of a sudden when plugging it in to the usb 3.0 port it is not recognized but the led light toggles on and i hear a sound coming from it like before when it use to work but when i removed it and plugged into a usb 2.0 port the computer recognized it and i could view the files and i ran tests for bad sectors and scanned it and nothing was found but i do not want to use it on usb 2.0 since it’s slow so anybody knows how i can make it work with usb 3.0 like before also my usb 3.0 port works because i tried plugging in a usb 2.0 flash drive and the computer recognized it. my computer is running windows 8.1 pro

Have you tried updating the drivers for the USB ports with the drive connected? If not, please try that.
opened the device manager and the universal serial bus controllers section seems to be working properly and there is no yellow warning triangle so they are up to date
