I just bought a My Passport 4TB and it worked at first just fine, then all of a sudden when I plug it into my Mac Book Pro, it doesn’t show up. Nothing I do fixes it. Only after rebooting, it showed up if I left it plugged in during reboot. It has never been shaken or dropped. Today, again I plugged it in and nothing. If I plug it into another USB port it recognizes it and works. But no matter what I do with the first port it doesn’t recognize it. Only after a reboot will it work again.
Now, yes, I am using a “PC” version of the drive on a Mac. I reformatted it to work with Mac, so no worries in that department. I’ve done this successfully with all my drives and I know this is not an issue.
This has never happened with any of my other drives. They work just fine. I need a solution or this drive is going back to it’s mothership pronto.
