I have a WD My Cloud for about 10 years now. It worked well until about two months ago it disappeared and does not show up remotely or even if i connect directly to USB. I sent to data recovery 3rd party from WD. They wanted to charge absurd $900+. I just want to recover my data and never see this product again. How do I do it? I tried Steller software.

I opened a case. Spoke with an Indian gentleman who tried to guide me through the process of attaining the logs. The hard drive never appeared. They basically told me to reset the hard drive that it was useless. I then sent to WD’s 3rs party data recovery. $950 to recover my data? No way. Completely absurd price. $100, $200, is acceptable perhaps. But never 10x more than what the hard drive cost me to begin with. Not when the purpose of the product is to store my data safely for a long period of time, which it did not do, which defeats the purpose of the product.
