Since I can attach a thumb drive to my tv and play content, can I hook my My Cloud to the tv and play content?
Using the USB port on the My Cloud? No. The My Cloud USB port is intended for attaching USB hard drives to the My Cloud.
If one has a smartTV, and that smartTV is connected to one’s local network using Ethernet or WiFi. Then look at the apps on the smartTV and see if it has a DLNA client app. If so then enable the DLNA Media Server (Twonky) within the My Cloud Dashboard > Settings section. Then enable Media Serving on the My Cloud Shares (again in the Dashboard > Settings) that contain the media. The smartTV’s DLNA client should then be able to stream media from the My Cloud.
Or if the smartTV has a file manager app that will access content on the local network, one could use that to connect to the My Cloud and play media files from the My Cloud.
